The recipe we are presenting today is not entirely our own. Our very good friend Mike, fellow blogger, ‘i don’t eat crap’ t-shirt model, and poster child of “paleo really works” actually gave us the idea for this recipe.
During the whole 30 challenge in January, we traded recipes back and forth a bit with our good friend Navy Mike, you all may know him as the Traveling Crossfitter. One night, Mike posted a delicious looking recipe for turkey meat loaf on my personal Facebook wall. The recipe looked so delicious, we had to try it out. We did, however make a few slight changes to Mike’s recipe to make this one our own.
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs of lean ground turkey
- 1 egg, whisked
- 2 tablespoons of coconut aminos
- 1 tsp each of garlic powder, salt, and pepper
- 1/2 cup each of chopped onion, green pepper, and celery
Process:
- Preheat oven to bake at 375.
- Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
- Lightly grease a loaf pan with coconut oil.
- Pour ground turkey mixture into the loaf pan.
- Bake at 375 for one hour.
- Remove from oven and let rest for 10 minutes.
- Slice, and serve!
As always, enjoy!
Good to know. I was wondering who the sexy t-shirt model was 😉

If you want to get in touch with Mike, just visit his blog: The Traveling Crossfitter! It's the one at the top of our link list.
Haha, well I don't need to get in touch with him, I just appreciated the eye candy 😉 Good choice for a t-shirt model because it makes me not want to eat crap!!
Haha, of course (forgot the title of your blog!) Mike is one heck of a CrossFit athlete. The day we did the photo shoot, he deadlifted over 500 lbs. Here are some shots from the photoset: http://www.primal-palate.com/2010/11/real-people-real-food.html
I gave you the wrong blog to visit. (I have two) Come on over to the Cavewoman Cafe and check it out. I've decided that we are triplets separated at birth. Oh wait you guys are only about 20 years younger than me. Oh well. Thanks for your enthusiastic blog! It is on my blog roll.
What is considered lean ground turkey? Would that be 160 cal per 4oz?? Also, do you cover the loaf pan in the oven w/ foil? Thanks!
Hi Trixie-
It should say lean on the ground turkey package. The one we used was 93/7 I believe. You are welcome to use any type of turkey you wish. It will not change the flavor of the recipe. We did not use aluminum foil. We avoid cooking or storing food in any aluminum.
Okay, thanks Hayley!
