    Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
    1. Place potatoes, parsnips, turnip, and garlic in a medium saucepan.
    2. Add 2 cups broth and enough water to cover.
    3. Place over medium high heat and cook until vegetables are easily pierced with the tip of a knife, 10 to 15 minutes.
    4. Drain, reserving 1 cups of the cooking liquid.
    5. Return vegetables to saucepan and add butter, and 1/4 cup cooking liquid.
    6. Using a potato masher, mash until smooth, adding more cooking liquid as necessary.
    7. Season with nutmeg, cinnamon salt, pepper and chives.
    8. Serve immediately or place in a slow cooker to keep warm adding additional cooking liquid as needed.
