April 1st 2012 I started following the Paleo Diet. I didn't ease myself into it, I went full Paleo from Day 1. And it hurt! For the first week I had headaches, I felt lethargic, and even dizzy at times. But I knew to expect that, as I had read that going from being a heavy consumer of refined sugar to consuming zero refined sugar might be painful initially. I roughed it out. After about 10 days or so, I started to feel better. I wasn't tired, I didn't feel mildly sick after eating anymore, and I found I had a lot more energy. By 30 days I felt absolutely incredible. I felt like running instead of walking, I felt like I didn't need as much coffee anymore, and I felt more alert during the work day. IBS went away entirely. Acid reflux is completely gone. My plantar fasciitis was previously unbearable, but within a month or two of Paleo the aching pain in my heels went away entirely and now I don't consider myself to have PF at all.
It didn't take long for the weight to start falling off. I'm 5'6 and was about 210 pounds, size 42 "relaxed fit" pants in April 2012. On December 1st I reached my weight target of 155 pounds, and am now down to a size 32 "regular fit" pants. I'm 29 years old, and I now weigh less than I did in my senior year of highschool. I'm still looking to lose another 10 pounds, but that will come with being more physically active.
So, after almost one year of Paleo I've dropped 55 pounds, lost IBS, lost acid reflux, lost plantar fasciitis, my skin complexion's improved (so people tell me, I'm the last person to notice the difference there), and I feel better than I've ever felt in my life.
