Paleo-In-Atlanta.jpg

This would only let me post five links. :(Most of these places are on the web though, just search for them!

Paleo-friendly restaurants
  • Urban Pl8 (actual paleo menu options! and GF!)
  • The Shed at Glenwood (not sure about their cooking oil but has decent meat and veggies)
  • Atkins Park (not sure about their cooking oil but has decent meat and veggies)
  • Eats
  • Whole Foods (several locations)
  • Farmburger--three locations
  • YEAH! Burger--2 locations (gf buns and fries/sweet potato fries/onion rings for those cheat days!)
  • Sun In My Belly (it may not be on the menu but they can make it Paleo--also they cater!)
  • Several Chipotles
  • R. Thomas
  • Holeman & Finch Public House (has paleo options)

Other places to get food or groceries

  • Nature's Market Delivered (veggie delivery service)
  • Cobb Harry's Market (Whole Foods) – ** you don't have permission to see this link **
  • Raw milk "for pets" (primal, not paleo but whatever) Carlton Farms (www.carltonfarm.com)--their website is down right now but they are in Rockmart, GA, and they deliver to various locations around Atlanta on various days.
  • Many, MANY CSA's around
  • DeKalb Farmer's Market ** you don't have permission to see this link ** actually a brick and mortar store with a hot bar, organic stuff for cheaper than WF or Trader Joe's, bulk spice and chocolate sections, etc).
  • Trader Joe's

Farmers Markets

  •  East Atlanta Village, Thursdays 4-8 PM
  •  Piedmont Park, Saturdays 9 AM-1 PM
  • Grant Park, Sundays 9:30 AM-1:30 PM
  • (There's a farmer's market in just about every single little neighborhood in Atlanta)

Farms

  • Carlton Farm (mentioned above) has beef, milk, eggs, etc.
  •  Heritage Farm (comes to a few farmer's markets in town and isn't TOO far out) (** you don't have permission to see this link **)
  •  Tink's Beef

Paleo Practitioners

  • ** you don't have permission to see this link **

Paleo Meetup Groups in Atlanta

  • Haven't been but: http://www.meetup.com/Atlanta-Paleo-Primal-Meetup/  (they also have a Facebook page)

Crossfit / Primal Fitness

  • www dot CrossfitAtlanta dot com (There are several crossfit locations all around the city but that is the one all my friends recommend. I am lucky enough to have a personal trainer come to our work and host workouts so I have yet to explore the Crossfit scene).
  • CrossFit Addiction (Kennesaw) – ** you don't have permission to see this link **

For ATL suburbs north, there are farmer's markets in Marietta Square on Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons and in Kennesaw at Adams Park on Tuesday mornings.

The best grass fed REAL milk and pastured eggs along with lots of other awesome farm goodies can be found at ** you don't have permission to see this link ** in Powder Springs.  We've been members for nearly two years and the milk and eggs are heavenly.

I subscribe to ** you don't have permission to see this link ** and it is a great service.  The produce, eggs and meat from Tink's are of excellent quality.

I guess I should have clarified. The Carlton Farm milk is grass fed as well and is "REAL"--the reason I posted "for pets" is because raw milk (non-pasteurized) cannot legally be sold in Georgia without the label "for pets." I'm sure it is equally delicious and equally real, and they too have eggs and other goodies ;)

I will have to check out My Dad and Me though--maybe they have a more convenient (for me) way of picking up the goodies! Since changing jobs and working in Norcross I'm a bit further from the two closest Carlton pick up points. Is the milk there raw as well? Or low-temp pasteurized, that would work for me too I think.

I also love Nature's Garden Delivered. I participated in the CSA for TaylOrganic Farm for several years; that produce is more diverse and unique, but I switched to NGD after I had kids because it delivers to my door and allows a hold for vacation.

My most most most favorite source for beef and pork is Riverview Farms. I just signed up for their CSA. They have delivery points in several areas, plus they operate something called the Farm Mobile, which is kinda like a farmer's market stand food truck.

When I lived in East Atlanta I frequented Sevananda, and now in East Cobb, I go to the similar health food co-op Life Grocery. They aren't particularly great sources for (local) produce or meat (and Sevananda has no meat), but the bulk bins for spices and nuts are great. I can try a lot of different things without spending a fortune.

I am also a member at My Dad and Me, and their milk is raw. Smile

Restaurant:
Kaleidoscope in Brookhaven serves French fries fried in duck fat, and they have a bacon-and-duck-fat mayonnaise. I haven't had a chance to try it yet, but this is based on recommendations from reliable foodies. I also am not sure if they use any oil in the mayo – when I get a chance to try it, I'll let y'all know.

Crossfit box:
Crossfit AF in Chamblee. ** you don't have permission to see this link **
The cool thing about a cf membership here is that it gives you full access to two locations (Chamblee & Sandy Springs), both of which are full gyms also. They have Les Mills group fitness classes that I'm addicted to. Body Pump is my favorite.

Brookhaven Bistro…they slant towards vegetarian so they don't offer any red meat.  But they have wild-caught salmon omelettes for breakfast and lots of organic and locally-sourced ingredients for salads and other omelette and breakfast items.
