Hi folks,
We know it can be a tall order keeping up with all of the features on our new website. With that in mind, I wanted to keep a log of the new features on the site so that everyone is aware of the full capabilities The Food Lovers Kitchen and My Kitchen can provide to you.
Here are just some of the things available to you, for free, on this website:
- Add Recipes to “My Kitchen”
Add from our database of over 300 (and counting) gluten-free recipes to “My Kitchen” with the click of a button. Each time you login, the recipes saved in My Kitchen will be there waiting for you, categorized by type for easy navigation.
- Create Shopping List
From your selected recipes you can create a shopping list by simply adding the recipes to the middle column and a shopping list will be generated for you, categorized by ingredient type for easy sourcing. You can add or delete recipes at the click of a button. If you’d like, you can also delete ingredients from the final shopping list if you already have them. If everything is in place, simply click print (or email it to your smart phone) and you’re ready to go to the grocery store! You can also save your shopping list for future use if you wish. We’re working on the ability to save multiple lists, so hang tight on that one.
- Add and Save Personal Recipe Notes
Now, with our new “Add Notes” feature, you can save little snippets of information on how our recipes work best in your kitchen. Maybe you cut the sweetener for something in half. Maybe you doubled it. All you need is to login, write a note, click save – and the note will be waiting for you next time you visit the recipe, whether that is next week, next month, or next year.
- Change the serving size of each recipe.
You can do this by clicking the up or down arrows next to the serving size on the recipe pages.
- Better search functionality
Type in your search terms, and filter by recipe or post. Flip back and forth if you don’t find what you’re looking for.
- Improved recipe layout
We’ve created logical clusters of buttons, information, and action items. Everything is easier to find and easier for you to use.
- Rate recipes
Now you can leave a 1-5 star rating along with your recipe review. Your ratings will help other users find the best recipes, and help us improve the ones that fall short.
Do you have an Egg Allergy? How about a FODMAP aversion? Dairy or Nut allergy? Or are you trying to cut out sugar? All of these filters are available on the website to alert you to allergens or dietary restrictions within each recipe. This filter is located in the left column.
- Choose from nearly 20 special menus for occasions and events.
From birthdays, to holidays, to making any night of the week special – we have a menu for you and your loved ones to enjoy a perfectly paleo meal.
In our 30 Day Intro to Paleo meal plan, we guide you through some of our best Paleo recipes that can help you get immersed into eating Paleo quickly and easily. The 30 day Intro to Paleo meal plan also includes 4 weeks of shopping lists so that trips to the grocery store are a breeze.
- Each recipe has nutritional information
We know not everyone is concerned with these numbers (nor should they be), but they are a mouse-click away for those that wish to know and are trying to dial things in, nutritionally speaking.
We will add to this list as new features roll out. Right now, we are working on getting the changeable serving size available to people in "My Kitchen" so that shopping list creation is easier for those that choose to modify recipe quantities. We are also working towards having a fully functional meal planner.
What else would you like to see us add to the site?
Bill
